The rumours surrounding Alex DeBrincat and his future with the Chicago Blackhawks have been up in the air for some time now, especially if General Manager Kyle Davidson is serious about how he wants to re-build, tearing the team down to their studs, pouring gasoline on the fire, lighting a match and walking away. Well, it certainly appears that the team is working on a trade that would send DeBrincat to the Los Angeles Kings for a pretty sizable return.
According to Hockey30 the Chicago Blackhawks and the Los Angeles Kings are talking a trade that would send Alex DeBrincat to LA in exchange for Quinton Byfield. The Kings don't seem to be too inclined to get rid of Byfield, but they really really want DeBrincat.
Byfield is largely considered a bust to this point in his NHL career, the 2020 second overall pick has only skated in 46 career NHL games scoring 11 points in that time, 5 goals and 6 assists, however, he is only 20 years old so it would be quite unfair to write him off just yet.
Meanwhile DeBrincat, 24 is a bonafide scorer in the NHL with the Blackhawks already who is coming off his most productive NHL season yet that saw him score 41 times while adding 37 assists for 78 total points in all 82 games this season.
It's also speculated that Alex Turcotte would have to be a part of the package if LA was to pry DeBrincat out of the Windy City. we'll have to keep an eye on what happens with Chicago and LA in the near future.
