Elliotte Friedman Reveals a Crucial Update on the JT Miller Saga During HNIC
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman gave us another major update on the Canucks attempt to trade JT Miller.
Earlier today, Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal reported that the team was close to finalizing a deal involving JT Miller.
That report has since been confirmed by Elliotte Friedman.
However, as it turns out, something has changed and now that deal is no longer in the cards.
Unfortunately, Friedman does not know what happened that caused one of the teams to back down at the last minute, but he did reveal that some teams have been granted permission to speak with Miller.
Shortly after Friedman's report, fellow insider David Pagnotta revealed that the New Jersey Devils have not been given permission to speak with Miller, shutting down rumors linking him to the garden state.
As a result, Miller played for the Canucks in last night's game vs the Edmonton Oilers.
Originally, he was expected to be a healthy scratch for trade-related reasons.
Meanwhile, the Canucks have provided some clarity in regards to Elias Pettersson, the other major piece in the locker room drama.
Pettersson has reportedly told the team that he wants to stay in Vancouver and Friedman believes the team wants the same thing, making it even more likely that Miller will eventually be the player that is moved.
At this point it still feels like just a matter of days before Miller is traded.
The Canucks next game is Tuesday night, so look for the organization to make a move before then.
If Miller is still on the team come Tuesday, he very well could be a healthy scratch if another deal is in the works though so either way, tonight could be his last game with the Canucks.
