Maple Leafs get some bad news about their rookie of the year candidate
Michael Bunting, 26, is the leader in NHL rookie scoring and he's been the perfect complimentary piece to replace Zach Hyman. Bunting has found himself stapled to the wing of Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, and he's benefited accordingly.
Unfortunately for Bunting tonight he suffered what could be a significant injury after taking a puck up high. It appears he is as struck in the face on the play.
The Maple Leafs announced that Bunting would not return tonight. This could be a big blow to the Maple Leafs who just got Auston Matthews back from a short injury absence.
