Marc-Andre Fleury has one Canadian team he has no interest in signing with
It appears as though three time Stanley Cup winning goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury will be looking for a new team again this summer. One team he will not be entertaining offers from or signing with is the Edmonton Oilers.
There were rumors at the deadline that Edmonton was in the mix for Fleury but he didn't consider them enough of a contender to accept a trade to the market.
Why do so many NHLers refuse to go to Edmonton? The climate doesn't do them any favors and the lack of success the franchise has had since owner Daryl Katz took over in 2008. Until this most recent post season the Oilers have only had only one series win in 2017. Since 2008 the team has gone through 11 Head Coaches and 5 GMs.
Fleury posted a 28-23-4 record with a 2.90 GAA and .908 Save Percentage. The numbers are down from previous seasons. He did play most of the 2021-2022 season with the Chicago Blackhawks who finished 27th in the league.
With Fleury already sharing he wants to have one more chance at a Cup, his list of possible suitors could be dwindling. It will be very interesting to see where Fleury heads next given he has already knocked off multiple teams off his list.
