Matt Duchene gets drilled from behind by Patric Hornqvist
During today's game between the Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, Matt Duchene was able to escape serious injury after a check from behind.
The play occured during the 2nd period when Duchene went to retreive the puck. On the play Duchene had his back to Patric Hornqvist, who delivered the check directly to the numbers. The blow sent Duchene hard into the boards head first, but luckily Duchene was able to get to his feet rather quickly.
Given the suspension to Casey Cizikas for a similar hit it will be interesting to see how NHL Player Safety reacts to this hit.
