Matthew Tkachuk gets emotional during his return to Calgary
Last night was Matthew Tkachuk's return to Calgary for the first time since being traded. When there was a break during the game, the Flames organization and their fans paid a nice tribute to Tkachuk. Many Calgary fans gave Matthew a standing ovation for his six years of service in Calgary. A nice gesture by the fans for sure. Tkachuk acknowledge the fans by waving his stick in the air. Check out the video below for the replay of what happened.
After the brief tribute, the game continued, and the Flames defeated Florida 6-2. Florida paid a hefty price to acquire Matthew Tkachuk, but he's been the best player in the trade so far. Tkachuk leads the team with twenty-nine points in twenty-one games.
Jonathan Huberdeau and McKenzie Weegar have struggled to find the same consistency that Tkachuk has had early in the season. Now with the season series over between Calgary and Florida, it is time for these players to establish themselves with their new organizations and move forward with their careers.
