Minnesota Wild forward forces player with concussion history to drop the gloves
The Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild are facing off in a Central Division matchup. The two teams are facing off and the winner will sit in sole possession of the final divisional playoff spot after tonight's game. During the 1st period of the game things got heated.
After Bowen Byram got aggressive clearing Matt Boldy from the front of the net, Boldy let his temper get the best of him. Boldy immediately challenged Byram and dropped his gloves. Byram had no choice but to drop his own gloves in his defense.
During the fight Boldy landed some very solid shots to Byram's head. In most cases I fully support dropping the gloves, but Byram has an extensive concussion history. So much so that Byram has already been forced to contemplate retirement on multiple occasions.
Byram luckily appears no worse for wear, but this is an unnecessary risk for a promising young player who deserves to have a long and successful career.
