Minnesota Wild's top prospect scores an incredible goalie goal
Minnesota Wild 2021 first round pick Jesper Wallstedt had quite a game for himself in the American Hockey League last night. The Iowa Wild defeated the Chicago Wolves 5-2. Iowa goaltender Wallstedt made thirty-seven saves for the victory and added an empty net goal. In the last minute of the third period the puck was dumped into the Iowa zone. Wallstedt immediately grabbed control of the puck and shot it the distance of the ice into the open Chicago net. Check out the link below for the replay.
It is not everyday that a goalie scores on an open net so it was good to see Wallstedt accomplish that. What has to be even more impressive is the amount of shots he turned away in the game. Wallstedt was selected as the games number one star.
Minnesota has high hopes for this Swedish goalie and he will be part of the Wild's future plans. For now, they hope he can continue to develop and play as much as he can in the American Hockey League to gain as much experience as possible.
