Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators in talks for a massive trade involving 7th overall pick
The NHL Draft begins tomorrow night and there are teams working feverishly to get deals done. The Montreal Canadiens have been rumoured to have been working hard to find a 2nd pick in the top 10 and it appears they may be close to accomplish that task.
According to Patrick Lortie, the Canadiens and Senators are involved in deep trade discussions currently.
Confirming rumors first reported by @mdamico and @MTLhockeynow that the #Sens and #GoHabsGo are in heavy talks regarding the 7th overall picks. Ottawa going hard after Anderson and Dvorak we are told. #Habs
The Ottawa Senators are looking to compete sooner rather than later so it wouldn't be surprising to see them deal that 7th overall pick but the deal would likely involve Matt Murray or Nikita Zaitsev's cap hit going in the opposite direction to offset the salary cap.
