Montreal Canadiens forward Josh Anderson facing lengthy suspension after dangerous hit
The Montreal Canadiens lost tonight to the Vegas Golden Knights by a score of 6-4 tonight. The Canadiens likely have also lost forward Josh Anderson for an extended period of time. Halfway through the 3rd period, Anderson was ejected for boarding Golden Knights' captain Alex Pietrangelo.
As Pietrangelo carries the puck in front of the Vegas bench he fumbles it. As he tries to make an adjustment he turns his back to Anderson who delivers a hit directly in the numbers. The blow sends Pietrangelo face first into the boards.
Luckily for Pietrangelo he was uninjured on the play and he immediately jumped up to defend himself. Anderson was given a 5-minute major and a game misconduct on the play. Both Pietrangelo and Alec Martinez were given roughing minors on the play.
Even after the hit the Canadiens managed to end up on the powerplay, where Nick Suzuki scored a goal to make the game 5-3 at the time. It's likely Anderson will receive a call from NHL Department of Player Safety tomorrow.
