After the Montreal Canadiens won their final game of this disappointing season many wondered if Carey Price had played his final game for the Canadiens.
The way he acted afterwards, by waving to his wife Angela and kids, made many wondered if they'd seem the end of his career. With the Habs entering a rebuild and holding the 1st overall pick, there might not be a better time then now to move on.
During the World Hockey Championships in Finland, Hughes was asked yet again about the status on Carey Price and if he will return next season, retire, or be traded.
Ultimately, in Carey's situation, he has to make the right decision for him. Obviously, that decision will have a big impact on us in one way or another. We're able to empathize with him and obviously there's a timeline that's in place for him to get better and to get back to being a full-time goalie. But, there is a timeline for us as well. We hope they match up, but, at the end of the day, we have to respect the fact that he has to do things the way he has to do them in order to get back to full time.
With Hughes making it clear Price has been given a timeline for his decision it's clear that the Canadiens have given Price the task of decided whether he wants to stay or go. It will be interesting because given his contract Price could be very difficult for the Habs to move.
