The Montreal Canadiens and Carey Price have been under fire recently for his Instagram post supporting the rights for Canadians to retain their hunting rifles. Infamous reporter Jack Todd has now stated because of that oversight and the hashtag used, Price should no longer have his jersey retired by the Canadiens when he calls it a career.
Now, while I don't agree with his post nor his use of the hashtag, this is an absurd statement to make. First of all, Price has apologized for the use of the hashtag, which should earn him some forgiveness.
While his post was an oversight, I don't think that should mean that when his time comes to an official end, he hasn't earned his place among the greats in the rafters of the Bell Centre.
Over the course of his 15 year career with the Canadiens, Price has appeared in 712 games recording 361-261-79 record with a 2.51 goals against average a .917 save percentage and 49 career shutouts.
His name should be among the greats of Canadiens history.
