The hockey world has been through some tragedy in recent years, and now, a 29-year old from Toledo has tragically passed, with the team now in mourning.
It's been a tough time in recent years as a fan of hockey, as there have been many tragic passings in the last few months, and unfortunately, a AAA semi-pro team in Toledo, Ohio has announced a tragic passing.
According to a
social media post by the team, forward Johnny Bonta has tragically and unexpectedly passed away at the age of 29, with fans, opponents, teammates and coaches all coming together to pay tribute.
Given how beloved it appears that Johnny was, it's no surprise that the comments were flooded with positivity and great memories from those that watched, those that opposed him and those he shared the ice with.
That wasn't the only tribute however, as the University of Cincinnati Men's Ice Hockey team also posted about his passing on their instagram, with glowing reviews of what Johnny was like as both a player and a person.
The 29-year old split most of his time in recent years between the APHL and FPHL, with the recent season in Toledo seeing him tally an impressive 42 points in just 12 games played, showing just how talented he was on the ice.
Most of the tributes however speak of what a great, positive person that he was on and off the ice, so we take this time along with everyone to send our condolences to the friends, family, teammates, coaches and everyone involved with Bonta, and hope that at this immensely tough time, you can find some joy in the memories that he brought to you.
Rest in Peace, John Bonta.
