The Montreal Canadiens have seen a huge drop off in production this season. They went from the Stanley Cup finals to last place in the Eastern Conference within less then a year. However, there may be a reason for their steep decline.

With major injuries to Shea Weber, Carey Price, and Jonathan Drouin, just to name a few, the Canadiens have been the most injured team this season. There is only one player, Nick Suzuki, who hasn't missed a game this year. Every player on the roster has missed at least 10 games, except for 3 players.

The previous all-time record for man-games lost was 629, set by the '03 Kings. As of April 2nd, the Montreal Canadiens have 656 man-games lost with 13 games to go. The healthiest team this year has been the Calgary Flames. If the Montreal Canadiens stopped playing hockey today it would take the Calgary Flames over 549 more games to catch them in number of games missed by injured players based on their current pace.

The next closest team to the Montreal Canadiens are the Buffalo Sabres with 504 man-games lost. By virtue the Canadiens can only improve next season as it is doubtful they will have this many injuries again.
