Friday night's game between the Arizona Coyotes and Anaheim Ducks was full of dirty plays. The Jay Beagle incident will be what this game is remembered for, but only one player was suspended.
In the first period, the Coyotes' Nick Ritchie gave a Ducks player a slash in the head area. Ritchie was given a two minute roughing penalty on the play. Saturday the Department of Player Safety reviewed the slash and gave their verdict.
Arizona's Nick Ritchie has been suspended for one game for Slashing Anaheim's Kevin Shattenkirk.
While I understand the sentiment of this suspension it's hard to believe this drew a suspension given some of the other flagrant cross checks that NHL Player Safety has allowed.
