It's been another tough year for the Buffalo Sabres. But after the Jack Eichel cloud was lifted the team played significantly better and saw some key pieces take some significant steps forward.
However, during this development phase the Sabres have been without top prospect Owen Power. Power had opted to return to the NCAA for another year instead of making a jump to the NHL.
According to NHL Insider, Darren Dreger of TSN, Power, the 1st overall pick in this past NHL Draft is expected to officially sign his entry level contract and is expected to join the Buffalo Sabres for the remainder of the season after the conclusion of his NCAA hockey season ends.
Owen Power, had a great year in the NCAA with the University of Michigan Wolverines. He also represented Team Canada at the 2022 World Juniors, before the tournament was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Power also went on to represent Team Canada at thr Winter Olympics in Beijing. Power was a huge part of the Michigan Wolverines season. The Wolverines finished the season with a 31-9-1 record and are set to take on The University of Denver in the Frozen Final Four Beginning Thursday in Boston.
Power has been compared to former NHLer Chris Pronger with his style of play. He should be a welcome addition to the Sabres lineup.
