Nashville Predators' defenceman Roman Josi is having a great season. The Predators' Captain is having a career year and has his eyes set on doing something very special.
With 87 points on the year hockey fans are cheering Josi on as he's looking to have a 100 point season. The last defenceman to accomplish this was the New York Rangers', Brian Leetch, in 1992.
NHL Legend, Paul Coffey still follows hockey and is heavily invested in Josi's quest. Coffey wanted to share these words of encouragement:
He's got to get 13 points in 12 games. Don't kid yourself, that ain't easy. I wish him well. I'll be (in Nashville) next Thursday to watch him. I hope he gets it. But as a fan, I want it every year. Unless you're hurt, I want it every single year. Because you're that good where you should be able to do it every year.
As a defenceman, the only thing these guys should do is what they do best. And it's not easy. You have to be in good shape. It's hard work. Anyone can lay back and dump it along the boards. Josi is having an incredible year.
And as a fan of the game, you can't blame Coffey for wanting to see players routinely at the top of their game and we hope that Josi accomplishes this feat and claims the Norris Trophy because of it.
