NHL Player Agent, Dan Milstein represents the most Russian clients in the NHL, and is closely aware and aligned with their interests. This job begins with recruiting players from Russia to have them develop in the CHL, but with the Junior League's recent motions to ban Russian and Belarusian players, his involvement would be greatly impacted.
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, there has been significant social pressure for North American businesses to cut ties with Russian partners - including all levels of hockey.
Milstein alleges that 7 teams have felt they are being pressured by the CHL to vote to ban Russian and Belarusian players from the upcoming draft. He goes on to argue he believes the league shouldn't punish 17 year olds for their place of birth.
Another unfortunate caveat to this story - if Russian players aren't able to come over for development in junior hockey, that will become a block to a significant portion of future NHL talent.
