The Ottawa Senators have been up for sale for sometime now, with interest around Canada and some pretty high profile celebrities wanting a piece. However, the National Hockey League has stepped in to have a say who they want as minority owner of the Senators franchise.
According to The Score, the NHL wants Ryan Reynolds to hold at least a minority stake in the team, no matter who ultimately ends up buying the team.
Reynolds's who has previously expressed interest in buying the Senators, has stated he needs a partner before he goes any further with buying the team.
The hope is that whoever wins the bidding will include Reynolds as part of the ownership group. The hope is, he'll document the experience with his production company creating more exposure for the NHL.
Honestly, if it was anybody else wanting to be a part of the ownership group I would make a snarky remark here about Bettman and the NHL as a whole. However, Ryan Reynolds is a national treasure and this would be amazing for the game of hockey at the highest level
