New Jersey Devils looking at other blockbuster trade option after missing out on Matthew Tkachuk
According to Josh Wegman of The Score, the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks could be trade partners this year, for more reasons than one.
The Canucks are trying to move JT Miller, due to the fact extension talks havenever made it far, until recently, whereas his agent indicated that there is a path forward.
Extending Miller would complicate cap space, which is needed to extend Elias Petterson and Bo Horvat, who are both parts of the current core of Canucks who are untouchable.
So, in actuality moving Miller is an option Patrik Allvin could use, to shore up the Blueline and to move cap.
Adding Severson would give Oliver-Ekman Larsson and Quinn Hughes help on either pairing.
Severson's cap hit would be cheaper down the road, than Miller who is due for a raise, given his 99-point season was a career year.
The ability to make this happen might include some prospects like Shakir Mukhamadullin and Kevin Bahl, but it's interesting to consider how this would play out, as JT Miller would compliment Jack Hughes as a mentor and teammate.
