New York Rangers prospect ejected for dirty knee-on-knee
The New York Rangers drafted Adam Sykora 63rd overall in this summer's draft. Sykora was lucky enough to be selected to represent his country of Slovakia in this summer's World Juniors. Unfortunately for Sykora his day was cut short after a dirty knee-on-knee on Finland's Joakim Kemell.
The hit happened during the 1st period of today's game with less then a minute left. As Kemell carried the puck across the blue line, Sykora stepped up and delivered the hit.
Sykora was assessed a 5 minute major for kneeing and was given a game misconduct for the hit. Kemell was shaken up but appeared to have avoided serious injury. Sykora could face a suspension for intentionally sticking out his knee on the play.
