By now most hockey fans have heard the inspiring story of Ben Stelter. The brave five-year-old who was diagnosed with brain cancer has become a staple of «Oilers Nation». Ben has been a lucky charm this season for the Oilers who had a record of nine wins and zero loses when Ben attended games live at Rogers Place. Now the Edmonton Oilers hope some of that good luck will rub off in Los Angeles.
Because of Ben's health condition he is unable to fly. So, the Edmonton Oilers and their charity foundation partnered with the Stelter family and are covering the cost for the family to drive to Los Angeles. Unfortunately, that meant Ben wouldn't be in attendance for game 1 or 2 of the first round series matchup against the Los Angeles Kings. But Ben and his family received the next best thing, They got to go to Disneyland instead.
This is a very class move by the Edmonton Oilers to give a five-year-old with cancer two wishes. To go to Disneyland and see an Oilers playoff game live. I think hockey fans will agree, we may not all be cheering for the Oilers, but we are all cheering for Ben.
