This upcoming Sunday, the NHL will host its first outdoor game of the year. The Edmonton Oilers will face off at home in against the Calgary Flames in an all-Canadian Heritage Classic.
One of the best aspects to outdoor games is the specialty jerseys and equipment that teams wear to commemorate the event and their history. The jerseys have already released for the fans to see, but now at practice some players are debuting the equipment they plan to wear.
Oilers' goaltender Stuart Skinner did just that at practice, and by the looks of his equipment, it's honouring the legendary Grant Fuhr.
For a 24 year old goaltender thought to be the future for Edmonton, it's nice to see Skinner understand and pay tribute to the legendary Oilers teams that came before him.
Fuhr played nine season with the Oilers between 1981 and 1991, winning the Stanley Cup five times in that span. He went on to play 848 games in his career, many with other teams, but Fuhr will always be remembered as the goalie behind the Oilers dynasty teams.
