Ottawa Senators acquiring veteran defenseman
31-year-old defenseman Travis Hamonic has been acquired by the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a 3rd round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Hamonic is signed until the end of the 2022-2023 season with a cap hit of 3 million. He has 3 goals and 7 points in 24 games this season. He will bring a veteran presence to Ottawa's young defence.
It sounds as if the deal was driven by Sens assistant coach Jack Capuano.
Ottawa assistant Jack Capuano pushed hard for Hamonic, the 2 were together with the Islanders.
Ottawa has been after Hamonic for a while.
