After retiring from the NHL, Patrick Roy explored other options in the hockey world, as he joined the Quebec Remparts as VP of Operations and by September 29th, 2005 he was also the head coach.

There is talk that Patrick Roy may be eyeing a return to the NHL, as a Head Coach or General Manager again, which was also reported last year in April of 2021.

Now according to Patrick Lortie, Roy will be leaving his GM spot on the Quebec Remparts next year, as he trains Simon Gagne to take over, and it looks like Roy wants to be a part of the Montreal organization and if not, he will consider retirement.

Roy was considered in the running both times before Kent Hughes and Marc Bergevin were hired as GMs for the Montreal Canadiens. Given how the Hughes regime's rebuild is moving along, it looks like Roy might be in line for a pension elsewhere.

Lots of speculation regarding Patrick Roy's future in hockey but more particularly with the #GoHabsGo. He's currently grooming Simon Gagne to take over the GM spot as he will be leaving his post next season. Roy was spotted in Brossard yesterday meeting with #Habs management.

Remember, Roy had multiple meetings with Geoff Molson last year before seeing Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes get hired. He was also in the running for GM when Marc Bergevin was hired. At this point in his career, it's clearly a job in Montreal or retirement for the Hall of Famer
