Penguins reportedly closing the gap on a deal with one of their top free agents
The National Hockey League off-season is in full swing, and as such the rumours know no bounds. Kris Letang has been no exception to that, but from how it appears at least, the Pittsburgh Penguins and their defensive cornerstone aren't too far apart on a new deal that would see Letang stay in a Pens jersey next season and beyond.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports that the two sides aren't as far apart as Initially reported, in fact other teams around the NHL can see a path to the two sides agreeing on an extension. A potentially deal between the two sides isn't ridiculous far from being a done deal.
Letang has given his all to the Penguins organization and the city of Pittsburgh since he arrived over a decade ago. Been an integral part of the reconstruction on the pens blueline over the years and a part of the 3 cups Pittsburgh has won since 2009. All while still showing he can put up effective offensive numbers while being a stabilizer on the back end, even at 34.
I for one, don't want to see Letang in another jersey, especially after all he and the organization have been through, throughout his career.
Hopefully the two sides can agree on a deal sooner rather than later.
