There is a code in the game of hockey that not everyone agrees with. But that code is used in most leagues to keep players safe and help players police themselves. Unfortunately sometimes players aren't willing to hold up their end of that code.

In this video shared by Hockey Benders, a player throws one of the worst hits you'll see. As a defender goes back behind his net to pick up the puck, another player takes a very egregious charge before nailing a player from behind. As he skates back towards center ice he is confronted by another player, but instead of dropping the gloves he immediately turtles and hits the ice.

This is another example as to why the instigator penalty should not exist in hockey. When a player can perform a hit like this and not have to drop the gloves for it, there is a problem.
