San Jose Sharks General Manager taking a stand against the Czech governments ban on players
General Manager Mike Grier made a bold move and is showing support for his entire team. He commented that if his Russian players were not allowed to play games in the Global Series in Prague that the entire Sharks team would not be playing. What an admirable defense of his players. Think about how the Russian players feel about their new General Manager.
You would have to imagine that Russian players such as Barabanov, Svechnikov, and Kniazev might have some addition motivation for their General Manager as the season approaches. It is also commendable that Grier is also keeping his team together no matter what the situation is. Apparently he isn't letting anyone or anything stand in the way of his organization and for a young General Manager just starting out, that is awesome.
Hopefully the Czech Republic reverses their decision and players from both the San Jose Sharks and the Nashville Predators will be allowed to participate in such a unique and exciting opportunity. It would be sad for the players and the fans in Europe to have the game canceled over the participation of Russian athletes.
