Last night the Toronto Maple Leafs lost 4-3 in overtime to the San Jose Sharks. After falling behind 3-1 the Leafs fought back to force overtime. This continued the trend of the Maple Leafs losing to what should be significantly overmatched opponents.

The Maple Leafs at times again seemed disinterested in playing and competing in every shift. But the goal scoring ability of Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner carried the team to a single point. The Leafs continued to not support their defense, but unsurprisingly Keefe decided to not take aim at his star forwards.

Our inability to move the puck up the ice efficiently is slowing down our game on offense & really hurting our game defensively as well It starts with the D. Their first touch has to be better.

Earlier this year when Keefe tried to criticize his top forwards be as forced to roll back his comments the following day, claiming he'd "misspoke". Now it seems like Keefe is doing everything in his power to not upset his star players as he somehow tries to right the ship.
