Team Canada with a beautiful tribute to Ben Stelter on the day of his funeral
Ben Stelter was a super fan of the Edmonton Oilers. During his battle with a brain tumor he was able to become an honourary member of his favourite team. Having the opportunity to meet his heroes and spend time with the team made Ben's dreams come true.
Unfortunately last week Ben lost his battle with cancer. The Oilers and the fan base have been immensely supportive of Ben and his family. Yesterday the Stelter family held the funeral for Ben, which was attended by many of the Oilers players. Including Connor McDavid who wore a beautiful Oilers jersey that offered a tribute to Ben.
After last night's victory over the Czechs in the Semi-Finals at the World Juniors, the staff at Rogers Center took part in a touching tribute for Ben. Ben had coined the phrase over the past season of "Play La Bamba, Baby" a song which the Oilers played after every win.
So after Team Canada's victory the staff in Edmonton did just that and they played La Bamba. Not only to celebrate Team Canada's victory, but to celebrate Ben's life as well.
