The blows keep coming for the Boston Bruins, who have lost captain Brad Marchand for the remainder of today's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Boston Bruins are playing for their postseason lives right now, as they are sitting a handful of points outside of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

During this afternoon's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena, the Bruins lost captain Brad Marchand to an upper body injury.

Per the official Bruins social media account, Marchand is not likely to return to the game.

He was hurt when he got tangled up with Penguins defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph while attempting to retrieve a loose puck in the corner; Marchand fell awkwardly into the boards.

Marchand had only played in 2:18 of ice time before the injury occurred in the 1st period. The Bruins will now have to compensate for his absence in the lineup for the rest of the afternoon, and potentially longer depending on how severe the injury is.

The Bruins could be forced to deal Brad Marchand at the Trade Deadline

It's not out of the realm of possibility, but Marchand could very well be wearing the sweater of another NHL club after the Trade Deadline of March 7 passes.

A playoff spot for the Bruins is anything but a sure thing at this point, and general manager Don Sweeney and president Cam Neely could be forced into making a difficult decision if they feel their club doesn't have a realistic chance of playing beyond the final game of the regular season.
