Terrifying scene in Calgary as Flames defender lays motionless after hitting the boards head-first
It was a horrible and very concerning scene in Calgary on Saturday night after Calgary Flames defender Oliver Kylington took a head-first spill into the end-boards and lay motionless for a few moments as the fans in attendance held their breath.
The play occurred just past the mid-way point of the third period, as Kylington was defending an offensive rush, led by Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman. The Flames defender locked up with Hartman before the pair spun out, sending Kylington into the boards hard.
Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom rushed to the aid of Kylington, shielding him from the scrum that had ensued after the play until a trainer could make his way onto the ice.
Thankfully, Kylington, with some help from his teammates, left the ice on his own two feet and the post-game report on him was that he was "fine", per Flames head coach Darryl Sutter.
Very scary collision and Kylington was lucky to avoid a significant injury on the play.
