The Best Free Agents Remaining
The National Hockey Leagues training camps start approximately two months from now and, although most big-name free agents have either signed or are standing pat on a decision(see Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Mathew Dumba, there are some names that have yet to find a home for the 2023-2024 season and beyond that can make an impact if placed in the right destination.
Although many of these players can be looked at as fringe or role players this list includes the following:
-Maxime Comtios who is 24 years old skated in 64 games last season had nine goals and 19 points along with a 0.3 WAR for the Anaheim Ducks.
-Danton Heinen, 28 played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, in 65 games the 28 year old had 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 points with a 0.6 WAR.
-Tomas Tatar may be the most surprising player on this list. The 32 year old left winger is still a serviceable player. Tatar participated in all 82 games for the NJ Devils and put up 48 points.
-Jesse Puljujarvi opportunity to skate in another National Hockey League game may be over, but the 25 year old skated in 75 games for the Carolina Hurricanes last season contributing 16 points.
-Zach Parise is 38 years old but the veteran left winger may still have some game in the tank and as a veteran presence, if put in a win now situation may be the perfect fit. In 82 games he had 21 goals and 34 points.
-Caleb Jones could help solidify any teams back end. The 26 year old has four goals and sixteen points in 73 games.
-Colin White skated in 68 games for the florida Panthers last season putting up 8 goals and fifteen points.
-Cal Foote only skated in 24 games last season with 1 goal and four points, but should add depth to a team that gives him a chance.
The eight above are just a small sample size of available players that could help bolster a teams roster.
