The final piece of the Wayne Gretzky trade tree is finally complete
The Wayne Gretzky trade tree is absolutely beautiful and a horror to behold, as it has survived 34 years, as of today.
Nelson Nogier was proceeded by Markus Philips and Drake Rymsha before, this part of the tree ended. Rymsha was not given a qualified offer by the Kings in 2021 and walked, and Markus Philips was traded to Winnipeg for Nogier.
Nogier would spend his last season in the AHL with the Ontario Reign playing with the club for 13 games. The Saskatchewan-born player signed with the KHL's Barys Nur-Sultan for 2022-2023. This ends, with a trade tree that lasted 12,391 days.
Nogier was drafted in 2014 by the Winnipeg Jets and spent most of his hockey career in the AHL, with the Manitoba Moose. He would spend all of his Junior career with the Saskatoon Blades, prior to being drafted.
