Things get heated after Moritz Seider throws a huge hit to respond to Ryan Reaves
Last night the Minnesota Wild defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 in a physical hockey game. Young star Moritz Seider decided to get involved in the physical play as well. During the second period, Seider lined up Joel Eriksson Ek for an open ice hit. Eriksson Ek received a pass just outside his own blueline but he had his back towards Detroit defenders. Seider aggressively came up the ice and hit Eriksson Ek hard and sent him to the ice right in front of the Detroit bench.
Seider gained possession of the puck and drew the attention of Marcus Foligno who attempted to take a run Seider. Seider absorbed the Foligno hit and remained on his feet. The two started pushing and shoving before play was blown dead, as all of Seider's teammates came to his defense.
Moritz Seider is already establishing himself as young star in the league. He isn't afraid to add some big hits to his game either. Detroit has to love that. Seider's hit didn't appear dirty and he was able to stand up for himself after Marcus Foligno challenged him. Perhaps this hit was a response from Ryan Reaves laying out Filip Hronek in the first period. It was also a good move by Foligno who stood up for for his teammate. Although they aren't in the same division and don't play each other often, you could sense a dislike between these two teams that would make for a great rivalry.
