Maple Leaf fans have been incensed with Panthers' forward Sam Bennett over multiple dirty plays, including a cross check against Michael Bunting for which he was fined, and a wildly aggressive play that injured Leafs' forward Matthew Knies.
Although Knies will reportedly miss the remainder of the series with injury, Bennett was not penalized and received no supplemental discipline from the NHL department of player safety, despite being a repeat offender. With no response from the league, the Leafs gave hints at their expected response in their media availability.
When asked about drawing more penalties than Florida in the series, Keefe responded bluntly with an explanation that the Panthers are throwing illegal checks, possibly with intent to injure.
Luke Schenn followed up when asked about the Leafs response to the Bennett play, and gave an allusion to the expected response - a fight at the very least.
With the Leafs heading to Florida down 2-0 in the series, a game 3 win will be crucial for their chances to come back in the series. Including the physical play already teased by both teams, game 3 will be must watch TV.
