Nico Hischier gets laid out by surprising member of the Carolina Hurricanes
One of the most important aspects of on ice awareness is knowing who is coming down the ice towards you at all times. Knowing who you're facing at all times can prevent situations like Timo Meier being laid out Jacob Trouba. However every once and awhile a player not known for their hitting prowess steps up and delivers a huge hit.
That's exactly what happened to Nico Hischier last night during Game 2 of the Metro Division playoff series. As the puck gets lost in Hischier's skates, Jesperi Kotkaniemi is able to step up and deliver a huge hit on the Devils Captain.
For those who watched Kotkaniemi in Montreal this was a very uncharacteristic type hit but one that definitely set the tone for the Hurricanes.
