Toronto Maple Leafs top prospect delivers a big hit as he tries to make up for disappointing rookie camp
Matthew Knies is without a doubt the Toronto Maple Leafs top prospect. The 19-year-old is already 6'3 and 210 lbs. The left winger had is very likely in the Maple Leafs long-term plans as a piece that could definitely compliment Auston Matthews.
Earlier this summer Knies attended Maple Leafs rookie camp for the first time. After camp Knies noted that he was overwhelmed by the level of intensity and fitness level at Leafs camp. Knies reportedly took everything he learned and chose to implement some major changes as he return to the University of Minnesota.
In his first game of the season Knies definitely made the impact he was hoping to. During the game not only did Knies have a goal and an assist but he has a big hit that left fans talking.
Knies represents the sort of grit and toughness that the Maple Leafs could definitely use for a long playoff run. The only question becomes will the Maple Leafs for Knies into their plans, or will Dubas stick with his skill based approach and use Knies as a trade chip?
