Over the past few weeks, it's become increasingly obvious that J.T. Miller is on the way out of Vancouver, with speculation that the Carolina Hurricanes are firming as a favourite to land the 31-year old star.
Now, top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has all but confirmed that is the case, revealing during his latest 32 Thoughts article that the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Rangers are two of the top teams that have been given permission to negotiate with Miller.
While the Rangers have already put together packages for Miller that fell short, the Hurricanes are a very intriguing landing spot, as filling their 2C role that's currently occupied by Jack Drury and/or Jesperi Kotkaniemi would arguably make them the best team in the Eastern Conference.
It's unclear at this point what more a team could do to land Miller, as a deal with New York reportedly fell apart due to conditions on a draft pick, but with so many teams interested, it appears to be just a matter of time until a deal gets done, with many believing it could happen sooner, rather than later.
Don't count out the Boston Bruins, New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars or a surprise team from making a push for Miller, but at this point given his preference to play on the East Coast in the U.S. rather than Canada, it would be a shock if a team other than Carolina or New York end up getting this deal over the line.
