During Friday night's final game between the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers, between two non-playoff bound teams, things would get interesting in the 3rd period with the Philadelphia trailing 2-1. With just over 8 minutes remaining in the period, Austin Watson was called for slashing. While already on the penalty kill, Austin Watson decided to slash Travis Konecny's skate out from under him. Konecny fell to the ice and the referee's arm immediately went up.
Austin Watson was clearly not happy about the call, which gave the Flyers a 2-man advantage. Watson was vocal about his displeasure and clearly implied that Konecny took a dive on the play. A member of the Senators upset by a dive is something you don't see too often, especially given Tim Stutzle's impressive embellishment resume.
After the call was made though, Travis Konecny was caught by the camera, hilariously mocking Watson.
It was Watson though who had the last laugh, as he went on to score into the empty net giving the Senators the 4-2 win against Flyers in this meaningless game.
