The Ottawa Senators are in the basement of the eastern conference contending for the coveted 1st overall pick in this years draft. With all that losing, it seems frustrations are boiling over in Ottawa.
Last night, during the Senators 5-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, Tim Stützle seemed to have dons choice words for head coach D.J Smith while on the bench:
This seems like a team that no longer wants to listen to their coach, the fact that you can read Stützle's lips says it all. Smith's time in Ottawa if not already running out certainly is now.
You can't really blame either side here, but if players start tuning out their head coach, it's time for a change. The fact that it was live during the broadcast only makes things worse.
Smith is known as a nice guy and players coach, but at this point, it's getting hard to watch the way the players interact with him.
A coaching change seems to be in order for the Senators and it's been coming for a little while.
