Last year was one hell of a season for the New York Rangers. They had an impressive regular season and after a five year hiatus the Rangers returned to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Rangers went onto eliminate the Pittsburgh Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes before ultimately falling in the Eastern Conference Final to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
This run has Rangers fans very excited about the team's future heading into next season. Unfortunately, Rangers fans got some bad news as New York Rangers Insider, Larry Brooks revealed that both Andrew Copp and Ryan Strome intend to test free agency, July 13th. That's not all as the The Athletic would report both forward Julien Gauthier and goaltender Alex Georgiev have requested a trade from the New York Rangers.
Copp was acquired by the Rangers this past season for prospect Morgan Barron and 3 draft picks. Copp, 27, year had 21 goals and 32 assists with a plus 15 rating in 72 games between the Jets and the Rangers.
Ryan Strome has been with the Rangers since the 2018-19 season after being acquired from the Edmonton Oilers the 28-year-old made $4.5 million this season and had 21 goals, and 33 assists with a plus 15 rating in 74 games.
