The Winnipeg Jets are moving on from their interim coach Dave Lowry who had taken over for Paul Maurice last season. Maurice had stepped down mid-season, making for a difficult situation in Winnipeg for the remainder of the 21-22 season.

According to Darren Dreger from TSN, the Winnipeg Jets are apparently finalizing the contract for their new head coach, Rick Bowness.

The Winnipeg Jets and veteran coach Rick Bowness are working on finalizing his agreement to be the next coach of the Jets. This will end a thorough interview process for the @NHLJets that began with Barry Trotz as the target. Experience a key factor here.'

Rick Bowness last coached the Dallas Stars leading them to the Playoffs but getting knocked out by the Calgary Flames in 7 games. He will bring a breath of fresh air to the Jets as Paul Maurice was the coach for the last 8 years making him the longest tenured coach for the Jets franchise.
