Two goalies drop their gloves for a tilt at center ice (Video)
Goalie fights have become far less common over the years, so when they do happen they're a sight to behold. In a recent Hungarian League game two goalies met at center ice and dropped their gloves for a spirited tilt.
According to Sport24.ru the tilt occured between Budapest and Miskolc. Goaltender Janis Voris decided he wanted to try and spark his team, who were down 3-0 at the time.
The opposing goalie drove past me. He was playing well, so I wanted to tease him - I pushed him a little with my shoulder. There was no doubt in my mind that I had to fight. For me it was my first experience like that, but my opponent got hurt more.
He hit me in the eye once, but it was a small thing. I hit him in the head a few times. I wanted to give the team some emotions. In the third period a completely different team came out on the ice - the guys were flying, there were chances to even the score. The coach praised me and added that it was something a defenseman had to do, not a goalie. He said it showed my character and desire to fight for the win.
