Tyler Motte explains his touching post goal celebration
Last night Tyler Motte of the New York Rangers scored the games opening goal. As he skated back to the bench he took a moment and pointed up to the sky.
It was clear Motte was honouring someone with the goal, but who? After the game Motte took the time to speak with Emily Kaplan.
A couple days ago, my fiance's grandmother passed away. I spent yesterday in Michigan, going through a service and just being with them and to have one, it was special. Some of that families in the building here. It just felt like I had a little help, that's all.
The emotion in Motte's voice is clear and you can see just how special this moment is. It's hard to see something like this and not feel a little romantic about hockey.
