As we move along in training camp, teams and players around the National Hockey League are starting take shape and learn their fate. Professional tryouts are coming to and end and, including the release of this NHL veteran.
According to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic, the Columbus Blue Jackets have released veteran forward James Neal from his PTO, likely ending his career.
Neal, 35, skated in just 19 NHL games with the St. Louis Blues last season registering 2 goals and 2 assists for a total of 4 points.
In 869 NHL games split between a myriad of teams, Neal has scored 296 goals and added 263 assists for 559 career points.
If this is indeed the end of the line for Neal, he's had a productive NHL career that has spanned 15 seasons.
