Alex Edwards, a forward for the Victoria Royals of the Western Hockey League, will miss a major portion of the 2023-24 season after causing an opponent to spend days in hospital. It happened during a game last Saturday. The league made its ruling today, with Edwards serving 25 games.

"In addition to the severity of Edwards' actions, other key factors considered in the decision include the severe injury to the opponent on the play and the fact Edwards is a repeat offender, having been suspended twice previously last season."

"Edwards will be eligible to return to the Royals lineup for WHL Regular Season game #280 on Friday, December 1, 2023." - WHL"

Meanwhile, the Everett Silvertips updated fans on the status of Dexter Whittle. He has been released from hospital as of Tuesday, but there is no timeline for his return and he's listed as out indefinitely.

Video of the hit shows Edwards slamming into Whittle from behind, causing him to crash into the boards.
