The NHL Trade Deadline is set for March 3rd and now one of the teams in the Central Division may have lost their most valuable trade chip. The St. Louis Blues placed captain Ryan O'Reilly on injured reserve with a broken foot. He will be re-evaluated in six weeks.

The 31-year-old is having a down season in St. Louis. In 37 games he has scored 10 goals and 16 points. He's also an ugly -28.

The Blues announced yesterday that forward Vladimir Tarasenko was placed on injured reserve with a hand injury.

O'Reilly and Tarasenko are in the final year of their deals, each holding a cap hit of $7,500,000. Both have had their names in the rumor mill as the trade deadline approaches.

The Blues sit five points back of the Edmonton Oilers for the final Wild Card spot. Losing two of their best players for a significant amount of time will make this feat even more difficult to overcome.
