Wife and child of NHL goalie receiving death threats from the team's fans

NHL players try and go out 82 times a year and give their best for every single game. Despite that attempt there are just some nights when a player doesn't have their best game. There is usually no one harder on that player than themselves.

No matter how bad a player plays though there is absolutely zero excuse for threats of violence against that player. But even worse, there are is NO excuse for directing that same type of hate towards a player's wife and child.

Unfortunately that's what happened to the wife of Columbus Blue Jackets' goalie Elvis Merzlikins. Alexandra Merzlikins took to her Instagram account to share the following disgusting behavior she received from Columbus Blue Jackets fans.

Okay guys that's enough. yesterday night heard "you, your kid and your husband should die" "you and your husband are trash". while at the same time when he plays good it's "you guys are amazing" "we love you" "can we get a picture".. touching my son, screaming his name (he's one year old, and thanks to all of this he will not be coming with me to games anymore to see his dad because honestly I'm scared of him being there. Good job)

Today reading that I'm blocking fans and that my husband has mental
issues...sorry that you need 5 minutes of fame but didn't block you and if u think hard about why my husband did probably you will figure it out..."to every action there is a reaction remember that"

I have one thing to say. Enough with the trashing, enough with the pointing fingers, enough with the hoping something bad happens or
wishing someones death, quick reminder we had a tragedy happen last year so think about it twice before you say something...

Now or you are in it for the good and the bad or you're out. But most of al never touch our family and personal life again because what you see is 1/4 of whatever is going on, remember we decide what you see. What happens on ice should stay on ice and not be part of our personal life outside.

It's unfortunate that some idiotic fans felt that need to cross the line and create such a hostile environment. Especially for someone like Aleksandra who has been known to constantly support her husband and the Blue Jackets.

The two have also been a fixture in the community and the team after the death of Matiss Kivlenieks, Elvis's best friend. This sort of behaviour is a black eye on all the true sports fans who attended these events.
