The 2022 World Junior Hockey Tournament has been rescheduled for August and will once again be held in Alberta.
The International Ice Hockey Federation chose to cancel the tournament in December when several games were forfeited as a result of players from the American, Russian and Czechian teams having to quarantine due to positive COVID-19 tests.
IIHF President Luc Tardif shared the following:
(The rescheduled tournament) will be a new competition, which means we forget the results (in December).
He also confirmed that the previously cancelled Women's Under-18 Tournament has been rescheduled as well. It was originally to be held in Sweden in January but Tardif said that now the even will take place in June in "the north of the USA" in a more specific city to be named later.
